The Basketball ABCs · updated October 24, 2026
The Basketball ABCs is a free alphabet book for children, made by Teddy Dupay Basketball Academy (TDBA) in Florida. This page says what the book keeps, where, for how long, and how a grown-up deletes it.
What we keep about your child. Nothing. There are no accounts and no sign-up. We get no name, age, birthday, photo, voice, email or address.
What stays on this device. If your child uses these parts of the book, they are saved in this browser, on this phone, tablet or computer, and nowhere else:
- recordings made with “Record me”: up to 20 seconds each, one per letter
- a first name, if one is typed for the crowd to cheer (up to 14 letters, and it can be skipped)
- coins, the letters won, the player your child built, and the last 60 fill-in hints, shown on the grown-ups page
- whether the book was last on Read or Play
The book has no code that sends any of this to us or to anyone else.
Sharing a clip. “Make a clip” turns a recording into a short video, made on the device. The clip holds your child’s voice, the page and the book’s web address, not their name. It leaves the device only if you share it or save it, and then it goes where you send it.
Read to me. “Read to me” and the game’s spoken questions use the voice built into your device. On some browsers that voice runs on the browser maker’s computers (for example Google’s, in Chrome), so the words being read go to them. Only the book’s own words are read this way, not your child’s recordings or name.
Opened from Hoops Math. If a grown-up opens the book from the Books door in Hoops Math, each right answer in the letter game adds one penny to that family’s Hoops Math bank. The book sends Hoops Math only the number of pennies, a one-time code for each penny, and the short-lived pass Hoops Math gave it. That pass is kept in this browser tab only and is gone when the tab closes. Recordings, clips, the first name and the player stay on this device. Opened any other way, the book sends nothing.
What we count. Nothing. The book runs no analytics: no Google Analytics, no Meta (Facebook) Pixel, no Cloudflare Web Analytics, no ad tags and no cookies.
Our host. Cloudflare sends the book’s pages. Like any website host, it sees the internet address of the device asking for a page, so it can send it. We keep no list of visitors.
How long it is kept, and how to delete it. What is on the device stays until you erase it. Tap “Erase” on a letter to delete that recording. To delete everything, clear this site’s data in your browser’s settings. On an iPhone or iPad, Safari may clear it by itself if the book is not opened for 7 days of Safari use; added to the home screen, it stays. On our side there is nothing to keep, so there is nothing to delete.
Children’s privacy (COPPA). The book is made for children, including children under 13. Nothing a child makes or types is sent to us. There are no ads and nothing to buy. We never sell your data.
If you write to us. We keep your email so we can answer you. We may also email you news and offers about our books and other Teddy Dupay Basketball Academy (TDBA) programs and products. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Once you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you; we keep your address on file, marked do-not-send. A child’s own details are never used for marketing or ads. Only a grown-up’s email is.
Questions, or to delete something. Write to teddy@teddydupay.com.
